Do business directories actually help, or are they a waste of time?

I’ve been running my small business for a while, but getting new customers is still a struggle. I keep hearing that listing my business in an online directory can help, but I’m not convinced. Feels like most people just Google what they need or rely on social media. Are business directories still relevant, or am I better off focusing my energy elsewhere? Has anyone actually seen real results from using them?

I used to think directories were outdated, but they still bring in customers. I added my business, and after a few weeks, I started getting more calls from people who found me there. It’s not a miracle fix, but it’s one more way to be seen. Some folks still prefer directories over endless scrolling. If you’re considering it, check out the Mount Vernon, WA Business Directory—I saw a noticeable difference after signing up.

Directories can help, but they’re not a magic bullet. If your website is outdated or your reviews aren’t great, just being in a directory won’t do much. But if you’re already offering great service and have a solid online presence, a directory listing can give you extra visibility. Think of it as one tool in your marketing toolbox—helpful, but not something to rely on alone. Pair it with good customer engagement, and you’ll see better results.
