Enchant event does NOT guarantee the safety of your items anymore. It used to, but now the only way to guarantee the safety of your item is using 3 (!) protect stones.

And if enchant event does not guarantee the safety of your items then what does enchant event do ?

Without enchant event your items and cells can be destroyed at all levels. During enchant event only items above +10 can be destroyed and cells above 51 if I remember correctly. I tried to enchant my ss orig perm today and it got destroyed so there is still good reason to wait for enchant event if you want to enchant.
